Gazebo Roofing Materials – which is better and why?

The aluminium roof for our Meridian Gazebo range has been chosen for durability, practicality and aesthetic quality. Aluminium is strong, stable and perfect for our changing British climate. It holds up well against sun, rain, and humidity.  Not only does our roof offer waterproofing, it also is very effective at heat dispersion. A great year round result.

Yardistry aluminium roofing sets us apart from our competitors. An Aluminium roof is known for being lightweight and easy to install. Therefore making them a practical choice for our gazebo designs.  The Aluminium roof is not only visually appealing with a contemporary feel, but also provides reliable protection against the elements.  Ultimately ensuring your outdoor gatherings can continue regardless of the weather.

What about a steel roof?

Unlike steel, aluminium naturally resists rust and corrosion. Therefore making it a low-maintenance option for outdoor use. Steel roof gazebos can be very heavy and quite noisy when it rains. Galvanising and powder coating steel can offer corrosion resistance. However, minor damage to the coating can expose the steel to rust and cause problems.

What about Asphalt Shingles?

Asphalt shingles are another roofing option for garden gazebos. They are made from a fibre glass mat base that is coated with asphalt and covered with ceramic granules. They are not as environmentally friendly as other roofing materials. But they do come in a wide variety of colours, so you can choose one that complements your garden’s look. Whilst they are a durable cheaper option, they can be more prone to damage than other roofing materials if something heavy, like a branch or hail, falls on them.

So what makes Aluminium so good?

  • Lightweight: It is lighter in weight, so easier to transport, handle, and install, which is ideal for DIY projects like our build at home garden gazebo sets.
  • Heat Dissipation: Aluminium is an excellent thermal conductor, meaning it quickly disperses heat. This can keep the area under the roof much cooler in summer.  Aluminium roofing can reflect solar radiation, which helps to reduce heat gain and keep the structure cooler in hot weather. Aluminium’s high thermal conductivity means that heat is spread around aluminium roof panels quickly, allowing more opportunity to cool than steel does.
  • Environmentally Friendly: Aluminium is a recyclable material. This is so important to us as a company. Aluminium is a sustainable choice for roofing.
  • Aesthetically Pleasing: Aluminium roofs offer a contemporary and stylish appearance that will complement the design of your garden.
