What is the best wood for a gazebo?
Cedar contains natural preservatives that help it resist decay. At our factory, we have also applied a water-based stain that has been formulated with ingredients that are safe for the environment. Some of our customers ask why Cedar Lumber feels lighter. There are two reasons for this. Firstly, Cedar is a softwood, so it is naturally lighter when compared to hardwoods. However, the primary reason is that the Cedar in your Yardistry Direct product has been kiln-dried. Kiln Drying is a process where the Cedar Lumber is put into a giant oven over a period of several days, removing moisture from the lumber. This makes the lumber more dimensionally stable, so the wood will stay flat and straight, making it perfect for building an outdoor project.

When was Yardistry Founded?
Yardistry was founded in Canada in 2007. Yardistry is a unique concept of a premium cedar frame coupled with aluminium roof panels. Using these two complementary materials creates a timelessly beautiful design, which is as attractive as it is durable.
Where are they based?
With a unique range of gazebos and accessories that are exclusive to us in the UK. We have warehouses in Shackerstone, Warwickshire UK. We have a small range of accessories that would fit the Costco UK line of Yardistry garden products. However, we are unable to support technically or provide spare parts for Gazebos, Pergolas or Greenhouses purchased from Costco UK. For missing or replacement parts, please contact Yardistry US. Yardistry was founded in Canada and is now owned and managed by Backyard Playnation, LLC, of Georgia, USA.
Which material is best for a gazebo roof?
We believe aluminium is the best material for a gazebo roof, and wood is the best material for the structure.
Gazebos often rely on either flimsy metal frames with vinyl roofs or wooden frames topped with felt shingles. Metal frames bend and break easily, while felt shingles look unattractive and wear out quickly. Thatched or cedar shingle roofs offer a more appealing finish, but they come with a hefty price tag—and still demand regular maintenance and repairs.
Yardistry Direct has combined the best of all solutions with a premium cedar frame, supporting a lightweight but strong aluminium roof. This reduces the need for maintenance, whilst ensuring your gazebo will last many, many years.
Are the Structures easy to build?
How are our structures wind tested?
In 2017 the Florida International University (FIU) tested a Yardistry Direct 14ft x 12ft Gazebo with an Aluminium roof using their ‘wall of wind’. It withstood a wind speed of over 150mph without damage!
What’s the difference between a Gazebo, Pavilions and Pergolas?
The gazebos have ‘hip’ style aluminium roofs. Our Pavilions have ‘gable’ aluminium roofs. While our pergolas have slatted wood rafters, but do not have a roof covering.
How do you anchor a Yardistry Direct gazebo?
All our gazebos and pavilions include ground anchors. The anchors are mounted to each of the posts and have two 1.27cm (1/2 inch) holes. We do not supply the hardware to affix them to the surface, as this will vary depending on whether you are fixing your gazebo to decking, patio or concrete.
