Protecting Your Yardistry Structure

All Yardistry structures come pre stained ready for outdoor use. The water based protector and stain is both multi-purpose and versatile. Our wood stain and protector offers high quality wood protection, and weather proofing. Protecting all varieties of outdoor timber with a waterproof coating that also resists algal and fungal attack. Applying wood stain and protector will minimise the damaging effects caused by weathering, such as cracks and splinters.

This close-up image focuses on the process of staining or painting a wooden outdoor structure, likely a gazebo, pergola, or pavilion, during its construction or maintenance.

A person, visible in the lower right and wearing a wide-brimmed straw hat with a dark band, is actively applying a reddish-brown stain or protective coating to a large, curved wooden arch brace. The person's arm and hand, holding a small paintbrush, are positioned in the center, carefully working the brush along the smooth surface of the arch.

The structure itself features heavy timber construction. The arch is bolted into a thick vertical post, with large metal washers and nuts visible on the post and the arch brace connection point. The wood is currently a rich, reddish-brown color, with streaks where the freshly applied stain is still wet.

Looking up into the structure, the underside of the roof is visible. It is constructed from corrugated metal sheeting, supported by raw, lighter-colored wooden rafters, which contrast with the stained posts and beams. In the background, there is a white vinyl or wood-sided building, possibly a house, with a multi-paned window visible beneath the overhang. A ladder is partially seen in the lower left corner, indicating the ongoing work. The overall image captures a moment of dedicated home improvement and construction. The bottom right corner contains a green square logo with the text "YARDISTRY."

Easy to apply and fast drying, our water based wood stain and protector is child/pet/plant friendly because it doesn’t contain turpentine, white spirit or heavy metals, and because it’s water based it’s has very low VOCA’s (volatile organic compounds).

Lasting up to 5 years, Yardistry Wood Stain & Protector creates a microporous waterproof coating that contains a non-hazardous mould and algae inhibitor. Therefore, protecting the integrity of the coating. The blended organic pigments created by Protek ensure that the colour is bright, pure and long-lasting. Also, with added wax and acrylic, the most effective water repellents are currently available.

This close-up image focuses on a large black plastic jerry can of wood stain and protector, resting on a wooden structure in a bright outdoor setting.

The black container is the central focus and has a clear label. The main text on the label prominently reads "WOOD STAIN & PROTECTOR" in large white and green lettering. Smaller text provides details about the product: "High quality, quick drying & suitable for all varieties of outdoor timber." It also includes instructions: "Apply 2-3 coats with a brush, spray or roller," and notes on longevity: "Lasts up to 3 years." The bottom of the label features the brand name "YARDISTRY" and specifies the color as "NATURAL CEDAR," with the container volume noted as "5 Litres e."

The can is sitting on a flat, light-toned wooden beam, likely part of a newly constructed gazebo, pergola, or fence. A vertical wooden post rises directly behind the can, all illuminated by bright sunlight which casts strong shadows and highlights the texture of the wood.

In the background, a wooden privacy fence, stained a slightly darker or weathered color than the beams, provides a contrasting backdrop. A small portion of what appears to be dark outdoor furniture is visible in the lower right, suggesting the product is being used for a backyard renovation or maintenance project.

Clean weathered or dirty wood using water, detergent and a stiff brush before application. Then lightly and gently rub down the surface of the wood to prep it. Decant the stain into a container. Stir well. Using a sponge (ideally) or a soft brush, apply the stain to the wood. No base coat or primer is required when restaining pre stained wood. Although the stain may look a different colour in it’s liquid form, you can be assured it will dry correctly and match the description on the stain bottle. DO NOT apply in temperatures below 5°C (41 °F), or if wet weather is expected within 48hrs. DO NOT apply to wet, damp or frozen timber. 1 litre covers approximately 8-12m² depending on moisture content and porosity of the wood.
