Maintenance Points

Hardware
Tighten any nuts, bolts or screws that may need it. Remember if you need any replacement hardware, you can order it direct from the manufacturer here. It’s important to remember to anchor your structure to the ground. Yardistry Direct gazebos come with ground anchor brackets and mounting plates.
Staining
Many customers use their time earlier in the year for re staining their existing outdoor products. All wooden garden products need care and maintenance.
If you re-stain your gazebo as part of a routine maintenance schedule it will stay protected from weathering. This has numerous benefits. It will ensure the harsh UV from the sun will not dry the wood out, thus reducing the likelihood of cracks, flaking or splinters. It will also protect it from rain impregnation. This will help it last as long as possible. Plus it will stay looking as good as new.
Surfaces must be clean and dry before new stain is applied. Before application clean weathered or dirty wood using water, detergent and a stiff brush. Gently sand the wood to rough up the surface so it absorbs the stain better. No base coat or primer is required, the superior formulation of our stain allows it to be applied to any material that is porous. Our wood stain and protector offers high quality wood protection, weather proofing and protection to all varieties of outdoor timber. And it has a waterproof coating that also resists algal and fungal attack. We also offer mocha stain to colour match Costco items.
Pro-Tip – Sand with the wood grain for speed. Apply stain liberally and it’ll soak into the wood to keep it protected.
Yardistry recommend that you re stain approximately 3 months after assembly and on a yearly basis after that
Roofing & Guttering
The powder-coated aluminium roof on your Yardistry Direct gazebo does not require high levels of maintenance, and can be cleaned with a brush or cloth. Gently brush off any dirt or debris with a soft cloth or brush and wash down with water. Our guttering has handy gutter stops to prevent debris from blocking the down spout. Checking and clearing the guttering is a straightforward job and can easily be done by hand. Remove any build up and rinse through with clean water.
Mesh Curtains and Privacy Walls
Our official Yardistry Direct mosquito mesh curtains are made-to-measure with Phifer® mesh, for excellent fit and long lasting durability. During your inspection, look for any rips, holes or warps in the screen material. Also, check for buildup in the corners and along the frame, identifying these problems early can save you time and money in the long run. If in the unlikely event that any damage is found, consider the extent. Small rips or holes can often be repaired with a screen repair patch or some sewing.
The privacy wall add on can be maintained and treated in the same way as the main wooden structure. Follow the above guide for preparing and re staining to be sure to achieve a colour match with your main structure.
